For My Darling Mickeybear

The mountain laurel blossoms -- also known as rhododendron -- are some of the most beautiful flowers you'll find in the East Tennessee mountains. My darling Mickeybear, these -- and my little lento -- are especially for you. *purrrrrr*

Shower of petals, lush and white
Bower of blossoms like my heart true
Power of love, warmth of joy:
Flowers need sunshine; I need you.

A Triolet for Mickeybear

It would be my bliss to kiss
White whiskers, long and silky
Oh, how I have sorely missed
White whiskers, long and silky!
At blogging, I have been remiss:
Please forgive me, Mickey!
It would be my bliss to kiss
White whiskers, long and silky.

Okay, I fudged the rhyme "Mickey" with "Silky", but in my opinion, the words fit one another purrfectly. *smile*

An Alphabet Poem for My Mickeybear -- and an Award!

Amorous purring
Best shared by two

Catnip and catgrass,
Deux, me and you.

Effulgent, mancatly
Fur plush and fine

Glowing and warm,
Heart so divine.

In my dreams of Mickey
Joy reigns sublime

Key to my heart,
Love for all time.

Missing our poesy,
Now I wish to write

One alphabet poem,
Promptly and right.

Quest: I shall go
Rapt, to his side

Sighing my bliss,
Tonight and tonight.

Up to the clouds
Victor, victorious,

We reach, oh we reach:
Xanadu glorious

Yearning and hoping, oh
Zenith: we're here!

My lovely and floofiferous friend Sweet Praline honored me with the Cool Cat Award! Thank you so much, my dear friend!

I would like to pass the award on to my darling Mickeybear, my dear sister/brother cousins Gretchen and Mike, my future sister-in-law Ariel, my sister Miss Peach, and my friend Quasi.

And remember, friends -- when I'm not here, I'll be on the Ballicus Blog with my brothers and sister.

In the meantime, I'm studying up on writing another poem for Mickeybear soon, which I will post here. *smile*

Easy Like Sunday

I feel a spontaneous Pleiades coming on...

Languorously in the
Laundry, I
Lalligag and
Long for one mancat to
Loll
Lazily beside me: my
Love, my darling... my Mickeybear!

Tucked in a Box Tuesday

snooze... snooze... snooze (beautiful dreams of Mickeybear)

Hmmmmmm *blink, blink*? Mom, you called?

Dozing on green fleece
Snug in my cardboard castle
Is that Mickey's step?

I play peek-a-boo
And snatch a purr from my dream
Oh, can he be here?

Did he wake with me
And travel to Tennessee
From his New York home?

He's back in my dream
Not in my cardboard castle
Those footfalls were Mom's.

She takes my picture
I smile, blink, and purr-purr-purr...
Soon I'll sleep again.

As I drift away
Cardboard becomes white marble
And I'm with my Bear.

My siblings and I posted our entries for the Red Carpet Buzz contest -- go check it out! Everykitty/everywoofie who has posted looks so glamorous... the humans at the Oscars will look like frumps by comparison.

A Cinq-Cinquain for my Mickeybear

My darling Mickeybear wrote me such a beautiful cinq-cinquain yesterday -- here is mine for him!

Mickey
Whitester mancat
The white knight of my dreams
A lucky Kittypie am I:
I'm his.

My bear
Robust, virile:
Manly mancat snorts are
Music to my floofy ears when
He eats.

We share
Love, poetry
And friendship dear and true
When we dream, we dream together
As one.

In dreams
We're on his wall
We're on my soft purr pad
We float and dance on wings of love,
Fulfilled.

Luscious
Whisker-kisses,
Poetic challenges
Make my girlcat heart glow with love
Always.

My precious sister, Miss Peach, started a wonderful new meme, "What's In Your Box of Life?", and she tagged me! I'm going to devote a lot of thought to her meme, so I can do its beautiful spirit justice. *smile*

Snoozy Monday

Mom's been hard at work on her novel, but she's letting us Ballicai blog for Monday -- yay! Some of you asked if Mom has cats in her novels. The answer is yes! Each of her novels has at least one cat. Currently, she's writing a mystery, though in the past she has written both women's fiction and romance.

I was very cozy when Mom took this picture -- check out my curled-up, inside-out ear!

I miss blogging on days Mom's busy on the computer, but I've been doing a lot of snoozing and dreaming of my darling Mickeybear.

And here is a spontaneous etheree:

Ear
Curled up,
Inside out
And upside down,
Topsy-turvy like
My heart when Mickeybear
Freshens up his floof and purrs
And sends me his mancat smile which
Makes my heart flip inside out, upside
Down, then languorously curl up in a glow.

A Dorsimbra for Mickeybear

The intoxicant, love, more thrilling than catnip,
Overflows from my heart just like 'nip from my fur
Mickeybear's love: my most excellent trip!
I'm giggly and googly, eyes bright, in a dither.

My floof: it poofs!
Ears perk, and I purr
A vision in white:
He warms me.

Take my paw, Mancat of the Morning
Snuggle with me, Mancat of the Evening
Together, we'll roll, paws high, frothy-headed
In the intoxicant, love: more thrilling than catnip.

A Ghazal for Mickeybear

"My Bear" ~ a Ghazal by Marilyn MonREOW

Love I could never forsake: warm, in the shape of my Bear.
A thirst which I could never slake: cool, in the shape of my Bear.

Romantic rhymes from our hearts close the long miles between us
Poesey bright as daybreak: formed in the shape of my Bear.

When I drift off to slumber, straight and true to him I go
Sweet dreams until I wake conform to the shape of my Bear.

In a shimmery world of our making, we journey paw-in-paw
Mancat rugged as moonscape: firestorm on heartscape, my Bear.

Whether from his home or mine, we reach, we strive and connect,
And purr as we come face to face, borne quick as the gait of my Bear.

Luscious whisker-kisses, snuggling Whitester-to-Whitester
I touch, with my paw, his nape to adorn him as mate and my Bear.

He's my star and I'm his; together, we eclipse space and time
This is my joy and my fate: to adore -- and elate -- my sweet Bear.

This ghazal was challenging and fun to write, though I must admit I took considerable liberties with the form! Here and here are two good ghazal links. I hope you like my ghazal, darling Mickey *purrrrrrrrrrrs* from your Kittypie.

Moon Glow Monday

Mickeybear, I was studying ghazals and thinking about you, and this little poem just, well, happened... *smile*

Darling, you're my moonglow
In my sky, heartfelt

And you're my sun on noon snow,
Beneath your warmth, I melt

Against you, dear, I swoon so
Your fur like thick white felt --

In sweet love's soft moonglow
Together, e'er we dwell.

Snoozy Sunday

A Spontaneous Pleiades:

Snoozing

Soft white fur
Slips gently into my
Slumbers as I wear the
Sweet band my Mickeybear
Sent me... as I
Sleep soundly, I
See him in my dreams.

New Snooze Spots

Since I can no longer lounge on the Yamaha (I barfed in it the other day - ACK), I've been scoping the house for new, choice snooze spots. And I thought I'd share with you several of my favorites.

Here I am on the purr pad on the little desk by the door. I love to lie with my head upside down. As my mancat Mickeybear knows (he writes poems about it, *giggle*!), I like to turn my head upside down while lying on my Mom and Dad's laps, too, especially when they're giving me scritches! They're always joking about how amazed they are that I never get cricks in my neck.

And here I am on the dresser in the bedroom. Mom and Dad keep folded there a pile of snuggly, winter clothes especially for me. And by the time winter comes, those clothes will be well-coated with white kitty hair which, as we all know, is highly fashionable! Cat hair of any color is an excellent accessory for beans' clothing, don't you think? When winter comes, Mom and Dad will put something else on the dresser that's cozy and snuggly for me to lie on. We Ballicai have our parents well-trained!

Here's the strangest spot: a piece of packing that came with Dad's computer case. It's the perfect size for me, don't you think? And here I am, looking over my shoulder, blowing a kiss to my darling Mickey!

The packing makes a good podium, too. Here I am, reciting a funny little poem (a highly modified Lento) I wrote for my sweet Mickey:

Lucky girlcat, yes I am
Plucky and besotted!
My mind's awhirl in poesy
My heart's all hot-a-trotted.

Entrance me, dear? You always do.
Dance to where I wait...
Romance you, dear? I'm happy to...
Perchance you'll do a Monty!

Mickeybear and I will be participating in Silence & Remembrance, hosted by Kashim & Othello, and I will light my candle on Saturday.

Thoughtful Thursday

I'm dedicating this post to my friends Ana and Ubee and to Oscar, my kitty Daddy. Goodbye is so hard.

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."
~
Irving Townsend

I wrote a spontaneous etheree:

Life
Well-lived
Glorious
Harmonious
Like a symphony
Which never stops even
When its orchestra changes.
We loved ones still on earth hear its
Beauty; it guides our steps and we dance;
We remember how to dance... together.

Welcome Back, Darling Mickeybear!

A villanelle by Marilyn MonREOW

Passed, the days I longed and yearned
Now, no longer must I wait...
Joy: my Mickey has returned!

His much-loved face I now discern
I smile and step a bouncy gait:
Passed, the days I longed and yearned!

Nightly, I sang soft nocturnes
Looking forward to the date
When my Mickey shall return.

My girlcat heart, it daily burned:
Our reunion to anticipate
Passed, the days I longed and yearned!

We reunite, to love and learn
Together, we luxuriate!
Joy: my Mickey has returned.

My ears are high, my whiskers turned
A poem of triumph I create!
Passed, the days I longed and yearned,
Joy: my Mickey has returned.

*~*~*Welcome back*~*~*, my darling dear! I missed you with all my heart.

I am continuing to hope and purr for precious Ana to arrive safely home.

Thoughtful Thursday

Darling Mickeybear, your Kittypie is thinking about you. And I'm working on my villanelle to celebrate your return.

Meanwhile, a spontaneous etheree:

Me
Myself
And I, and
I find myself
Daily missing my
Mickeybear and thinking
About everything we share
Together: love, laughter, friendship,
Snorts, poetry, full Montys, even
Poetic Montys: how I miss my Mick!

A Wonderful Weekend

I had a delightful time with dear family and friends at the Sweet Sixteens Family Reunion. Ben and Lucy, my sweet brother and sister, and their wonderful mom, Toni, were fabulous hosts.

Mickeybear, I missed you being there, but I know you were with me in spirit. And our poem was very well-received, I'm happy to say!

I'll post the poem here, to share with those of you who couldn't make it to the Sweet Sixteens bash:

"Sweet Sixteens", a sixteen-line poem presented with love and purrs from Marilyn MonREOW and Mickey Mantle

Sixteen years ago or more they fit
Curled up into a hand
Such energy, they couldn't sit
For long: the wee firebrands!

Twelve years ago or more they lived
Their lives as young adults
With exuberance and purrs to give,
Athletic prowess to exult.

Four years ago or more they grew
Calmer, contemplative
Quiet wisdom felt quite new
To those who'd been so sportive.

Today, the Sweet Sixteens (or more),
Know love and living intertwine
And daily from their hearts outpour
Dear joy for life divine.

Now that I'm home, I'm going to work on a Villanelle for my Mickeybear, to present to him when he gets back. And guess what else I did today... I played Box Wars with my little brother, MaoMao! *giggle*

Toes and Tummy Tuesday

Here are four haikus for today:

White tummy and toes
On Toes and Tummy Tuesday:

I dream of Mickey's.

A handsome tummy
Proudly shown in a Monty

Gives me the vapors.

On the Yamaha
I have these lovely visions,

And my toes curl up.

White, soft yet rugged:
I watch my mancat moving
Through my sparkling dreams.

Climbing Rhyme for Mickeybear

This poem is a Climbing Rhyme, inspired by classical Burmese poetry. This was a challenging and fun form!

My Mickeybear ~ by Marilyn MonREOW

No mancat can compare
To my Mickeybear; tender
Loving care I supply
As his Kittypie. I
Say, "Aye, my dear"
When he appears. Paw
to ear, pure white,
His eyes bright, my
Love alight, my amour.
All his contours please
Me more every day
In every way. So
I say to him: je t'adore.

Sitting Strangely on Sunday

Mom says I get very creative with my sitting positions. I'd been taking a bath, but then I realized how very nice it felt to have my back paw sticking up in the air. How odd! At any rate, I left it there for a while because it made me happy. It occurs to me, too, that this position might be some odd sitting-species of Full Monty.

A spontaneous etheree:

Paw
White and
Floofy, I
Raise high to wave
Hi to Mickeybear
While sitting quite strangely
On the Yamaha where I
Write poetry which celebrates
The love I hold for my mancat and
Where I dream of snuggling into his fur.

I'm still studying Climbing Rhyme! I'm climbing my way up to a poem, *giggle*.
