Well, today's the day -- I'm going to the vet for dental work. I'm not looking forward to the ordeal, but I am looking forward to when it's all done and my mouth feels better.
I've had some tooth ouchies, so I'll almost certainly require more than just a cleaning, and possibly extraction(s). Mom will update this post with news as she receives it.
Please purr for me, and Mom would really appreciate it if anykitty who has had dental work would chime in and tell her about how things went. She feels good that things will be okay for me, but she loves me very much and has cat mom nerves.
I'll be going home, same day, with antibiotics and pain meds. And if anykitty has ideas about tips re: added comfort after dental work, Mom would appreciate them!
Love to everybody -- thank you for being my friends!

UPDATE from Marilyn's Mom (1:00 p.m., Eastern): the vet just called and said precious Marilyn had done wonderfully and only had to have one tooth extracted! She's doing very well, and later this afternoon, she'll be back home. *~*~*~*HAPPY DANCE*~*~*~*!!!!
Thank you so much, dear Cat Blogosphere friends, for your thoughts, your love, and your purrs!

*~*~*~*I'M HOME!!!!!!*~*~*~*
As of 5:00 p.m., Eastern time.
*whew*, what a day it's been! I must say, I'm feeling a bit googly-eyed! Can you tell?
But on the bright side, I got a really cute bandanna from my vet. See? It has toothies on it!
On the embarassing side, I peed in my PTU on the way home. *sigh* Oh, well. What else can I say about that. It's been a trying day.
It's wonderful to be home. My brothers and sister are looking at me as though I were newly arrived from Mars, and Dorydoo hissed at me a bit, but I know it's because I smell like the vet. Brainball gave me blinky eyes to welcome me home. That made me happy!
My mouth was in better shape than Mom worried it was. Moms can be such worrywarts, can't they? I had one tooth that needed extracting, tartar that needed removing, and that was it! Yay! And I'll be taking antibiotics for the next week, one dropperful a day because of the extraction.
I'm feeling good, even though the aftereffects of the anesthesia are making my pupils great big and making me feel loopy. *smile* I'm jumping around, and I'm full of energy. Mom is keeping a close eye on me, making sure I don't overdo it.
The vet told Mom to be careful about how much I eat and drink for a while, because the anesthesia's aftereffects make me very hungry and thirsty, prone to eating too fast and then barfing. And Mom doesn't want me barfing.
So she let me eat a little bit, then I got a good drink... and later on tonight, I'll get stinky goodness and chicken or turkey-flavored baby food. I can't wait! Then I'll get my medicine (antibiotic liquid in a dropper), which I fear won't taste nearly as good as stinky goodness and baby food.
Mom says my teeth look fabulous! *BIG FLASHY SMILE*
Thank you again, my sweet friends, for your care and love and friendship. It's meant so much to me and Mom to know that my friends all over the world have me in your purrs.

Marilyn, I will be purring for you all day. I hate to see you have to go through this. I suppose I'll have to do the same someday...in the future. I'm still a young kitty and so far, a healthy one.
I hope they treat you well at the clinic and make sure you're not in any pain. I will be anxiously watching for the updates.
Be of good cheer, my sweet kittie-sister-cousin...and great big ouchy hugs, too...G
Good luck at the vet, Marilyn. We will be purring for you.
I wish you the best of luck at the vet dentist, Marilyn. I hope and pray that all goes well with you and you don't have to have many (or any) tooth extractions.
Oh my dearest beloved sister...I will be by your side all day today because the beans are off to Portland for Lapdaddies appointment. So I will teleport over to your vet and hold your paw while he fixes your tooths. My tooths are not so good either but I make do. I lost one of my fangs a long time ago, so I only smile like Elvis now.
I wish you a fast recovery from all of this unpleasant stuff. Soft baby food for you for a while is what mommy says to eat and make sure you drink lots of water too. NO CRUNCHIES...they make ouchies!
ALl my love from your adoring sister Peachy

Big purrs to you today! We will prau that all goes well!
Oh Marilyn, we wish you all the best at the dentist and hope you will feel better soon.

Purrs and Hugs!
Hi Marilyn
I hope efurryfing goes well furr your dental work. The last time I had my teefs looked at, the V E T said they were ok and I didn'y need anyfing done. When I went last year, he stole three of my teefs. I wuz not allowed any crunchies, only Stinky Goodness furr two weeks. That almost made the torcher worth it.The worse thing was Flynn hating me furr ten whole days cuz I didn't smell right.
After two days I felt really good with no more teef aches. I never told my Beans that they had been hurting me. Now I am much more lively and playful. Mum had thought it wuz cuz I wuz getting older that I wuz lying around more.
Me and Flynn are purring furr you.
Purrrs Eric
Dearest Marilyn,
I've been thinking about you ... knowing this day would soon be here. I know that everything will be fine. I told you that some time ago I, myself, had an extraction ... and I'm fine.
I will be waiting to hear the outcome of your day.
With extra love for you,
Mickey
Purrs for u, sweet Marilyn!
Our mummy worked at a vet's before, and the recommendation is to lay off the crunchies at least for couple of days, and if u really really wan them, u can always mix in some gravy from the cans to soften them.
Last but not least, lots of rubbies to get u over the wooziness. :)
AAaaww, Marilyn, I'm sending all my purrs to you, and purraying for you and your mom..I'm sorry you have to go to the dentist.
I will be purring and purraying for you Marilyn, I had to go through a cleaning and some extractions myself last year. I came out of it just fine and dandy, and my mouth feels much better because of it. And a bonus was that I could only eat stinky goodness for a while ... hee hee!
Good luck beautiful lady,
Your friend Sabrina
We are keeping you in our prayers and purrring for you today, Marilyn.
Some of us have had dental work and we did fine, just like you will do!
Love,
~ The Bunch
Bendrix and I are sending gentle headbutts and snuggles your way. We're sure you'll be fine and all the purring and praying we are all doing for you will help you recover in no time.

Oh, Marilyn, we sure hope your day goes well and you don't need any tooth extractions. But we know your mom will take good care of you.
We send purrs and wagging tails.
PURRRRRRRR, my brother, Cherokee had most of his teeth removed. Mommy adopted him at age 7, he was put out of his first home when his older guardian passed on and the family just put him out the house! A cat lovin' neighbor after over a year, was finally able to trap him. Mommy said when they altered him they should have checked his mouth. He hid from the beans for months before even lettin' Mom near him but she never gives up. She got a photo of him yawnin' and knew what was wrong so he had to get a sleepy pill and mommy got him to the Vets. It was hard to get him his pain meds since he hid all the time so she put it in his mushy food. After he healed he was a totally different kitty and even smacked OBI, the spoo, when he got to near me when I first came home. Mommy suggests that you get warm water to drink so the cold water doesn't hurt your sore gums for 2 days & plenty of huggs! Purrrrs,=^Y^=Ty & the Boyz & Mommy
Oh, I am purring for you, sweet Marilyn!
Oh, pretty Marilyn, we're so relieved to hear that your toothy ordeal went well! We've been purring like crazy for you. None of us have ever had to have dental work before, but my mom says some of her kitties who came before had teeth pulled, and they didn't want to eat afterwards, so she gave them some mooshy chicken baby food and they loved it.
Purrs & Hugs,
Rocky

Marilyn, we are so glad that you are doing well from your teeth cleaning. We don't have any of our back teeth back because we have FLORS. Our vet says that the Oriental breeds are prone to it, so make sure that your mommy has Mao checked often.
Enjoy the pampering, and once again, we are glad that everything went well.
Tiki, Tavi, Cody and Camie
Hooray! You did it. You're okay! I'm so happy for you. Only one tooth, yay!
I hope you didn't over do it today, cause tomorrow you're gonna probably not feel as good. But I'm just going by what my human had to go through. Perhaps it's a bit different for us cats. I certainly hope so.
But, floofy-sis-cuz, with the flashy white teeth, I'm so proud of you and I feel better that you're home.
I will still keep purring for you because I don't want you to hurt too much.
Love you, floofy-sis-cuz...G
Oh, I forgot. I really think you bandana is snazzy!

I am so happy that you came sailing through and only had one tooth stolen. Your bandana looks spiffy. Get plenty of rest and take your meds and you'll feel great in no time.
Dearest Darling Marilyn,
I'm so glad you're home. You look googly gorgeous ... and what's one tooth in the scheme of things?
I'm going to leave something for you on my page.
Please eat slowly and ... no barfing.
Love--Mickey
So great to hear all went well! Enjoy the great baby food again :-)
{{{HUGS}}}
Wonderful, wonderful. Glad you are home safe and sound and you didn't have as many problems as your mom worried you did. It was a scary day. Don't worry about peeing in your PTU. It happens.
Saw your message at The Cat Relm so I had to come over and see what was goin on with you. Wow, you have had a hard time with the teeth. The good news is that is is all over now and you are home resting. Let everyone at your place spoil you, you deserve.
Tyler's mom here:
Marilyn, I'm so glad that you are doing well. Those procedures can be so scary for the moms. Well, I'm sure you were a bit concerned too. As soon as you're feeling able, you might want to give your mom some extra attention.
Oh, you look adorable in your tooth bandana. That was thoughtful of your dentist/doctor to give that to you.
Oh, Marilyn, I feel your pain. Last year I had to have a tooth extracted too. But almost any reason is a good reason for chicken baby food! I loves me some Baby Chicken...
I knew you were brave! You did great! I have to get up the nerve to be as brave as you, because I know the day is coming for my trip to get my teeth cleaned....I heard my mom whispering about it.
